Remove IE Clicking Sounds
"Microsoft really should consider getting rid of the sound permanently. It made sense when everyone had dial-up connections, and the sound was useful to let you know when the page finally started responding and finished loading. Now, with pages loading quickly and dynamic AJAX* apps (such as Fablusi) that load items in the page constantly, the sound can click almost over and over and over, and make you want to throw the damn computer out the window." -That's another reason we suggested using FireFox.
Here is the answer: Open the "Control Panel", Go to "Sounds and Audio Devices", click the "Sounds" tab. In the "Program events" list, scroll down to find "Windows Explorer" and set the sound "Start Navigation" to (None). Click on the image to enlarge.
* Fablusi started much earlier than AJAX became a household name. We used a similar, more robust and lighter weight technology similar to AJAX.
